Creative Drama: The Wizard of Oz
Entering grades 1-2

June 2nd-7th, 2025 / Monday-Saturday, 9am-4pm / Drop off Begins: 8:30am

Follow the Yellow Brick Road through the land of Oz! From Munchkinland and to the Emerald City, this trip is sure to create new friends and grant a few wishes. Celebrate the songs and characters from over the rainbow all week long and serve as junior ensemble members in the 3-8 grade Performance Workshop of The Wizard of Oz Youth Edition!

This program is designed for all students–whether you dream of performing onstage, simply want a fun way to make new friends, or both! This class is perfect for students who want to try something new, get creative, and have a blast–whether it is their first theatre class or their fiftieth!

What You Will Learn

  • Learn lyrics and choreography to perform at least two musical numbers
  • Become a character and play pretend with and in front of others
  • Vocabulary and skills related to the 'actor toolbox'; body, voice, imagination, and concentration
  • How to share opinions about a story with classmates
What to Expect
  • Engaging, interactive classes led by experienced teaching artists
  • A supportive and inclusive environment designed for students to connect with each other
  • Creative play and theatre games that explore the world, characters, and details of the class theme
  • Collaboration with the 3-8 grade class to present a musical performance
  • Opportunities to share ideas and receive personalized feedback
What to Bring
  • Students should bring a water bottle and a non-perishable lunch, and a snack each day. Please ensure all items are nut-free.
  • All necessary class materials are provided

Extended Care
  • Extended Care is available Monday-Friday from 4pm to 5 for an additional $30/week
  • Extended care is not available on Saturday
Presentation Day
  • A culminating final performance for friends and family is on Saturday, June 7 at 2:30pm
  • Each student will get two complementary tickets for the performance included in their registration. Additional tickets can be purchased through the Villages Entertainment for $15.
